Christian Oliver - Counselling for Men

Counselling for Men.

You don't have to be falling apart to need counselling.

I’m Christian Oliver, an integrative counsellor specialising in men’s mental health. I provide counselling for men face to face in Plymouth and online across the UK. I work with men dealing with anxiety, stress, low mood, relationships, anger, self worth, trauma and the things that can become difficult when you’ve spent a long time keeping everything to yourself.

Face-to-face Counselling

Face-to-face counselling for men is available in Plymouth on a weekly or fortnightly basis, depending on what feels right for you and the pace you want to work at.

Sessions offer a private, grounded space to step away from everyday pressures, talk openly and work through what’s going on at your own pace.

Sessions are available weekly or fortnightly across the UK, giving you space to talk openly, make sense of what’s going on and work through the things that may be keeping you stuck.

What Counselling with me is really like.

Counselling with me is straightforward, human and collaborative. You won’t be expected to sit there and somehow find the “right” thing to say, and I’m not going to just nod quietly for 50 minutes either. We’ll talk openly about what is going on, make sense of patterns that might be keeping you stuck, and look at what could actually help things feel different outside the therapy room.

I work integratively, which means I adapt the way I work around you rather than forcing you into one particular approach. Some sessions might involve exploring emotions or past experiences, while others may feel more practical and focused on what is happening in your life right now.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to know exactly what I want to talk about?

No. A lot of people start counselling knowing that something feels off, but they cannot fully explain why. We can work that out together.

Is counselling just talking about the past?

Not necessarily. We may explore previous experiences if they are affecting you now, but the focus is also on understanding what is happening in your life today and what might need to change.

Do you only work with men?

I work with adults generally, although a significant part of my practice focuses on men’s mental health and the particular pressures men can experience.

Can I have counselling online?

Yes. I offer online counselling across the UK as well as face-to-face counselling in Plymouth.

How often would I need to attend?

Most people attend weekly or fortnightly, but we can discuss what feels realistic and useful for you.
